Pixie hails from Cork in Ireland where she attended medical school, graduating in 1995.

She followed in her fathers footsteps into General Practice completing her GP training at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge 1999.

Sera graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ medical schools in 2004 and has worked in private general practice since 2009.

She has been awarded Membership of the Royal College of General Practitoners and has gained postgraduate qualifications in Paediatrics, Women’s Health, and Sexual Health.

Dr. Sera Shoukru is the most excellent doctor I have ever encountered and I am 68 years old! Dr. Sera has the ability to hold thousands of data points with an intense listening and compassion. I was surprised by her broad and deep range of health care specialties, and her referrals were top notch in their fields as well. I was astonished about her and her team’s responsiveness, sometimes receiving contact at 10:30pm! I can not say enough about her brilliant, focused, and caring approach.

I started going to see Dr Pixie about 5 years ago. I was considered a complex patient by previous private GPs as I have EDS and had painful bowel symptoms most of my life. So when I started seeing her .. I thought finally! A female GP who would listen to my symptoms and actually do her best to help me. But unfortunately this ended up being very far from the truth.
When a woman has severe pain in her abdomen, that a CT scan cant explain you would think if the GP actually took the patients pain seriously she would try her best to get to the bottom of it. But Sadly this didn’t not happen. I spent almost 3 years with undiagnosed abdominal adhesions as well as a bowel volvulus. The pain was next level… absolutely Agonising! And I was passed around like a pizza to various gastro people who also didn’t take this “constant” bowel pain seriously.

I had suffered one acute diverticulitis attack that was treated w antibiotics but my pain simply did not go away. In fact it ramped up. This for most doctors would be a warning sign. But Not to her or to the Gastro people she sent me to. They simply ordered more useless CT scans and wrote long letters back to Dr Pixie which never led to me getting diagnosed or receiving the treatment I so desperately needed. Utter waste of my time and expensive Bupa costs.

So In desperation I left her practice last year and found a new female GP who did take the pain seriously and I was sent to a neuro-gastroenterologist at the Cleveland Clinic and finally onto a surgeon who finally did a sigmoidoscopy (my first ever) and he told me that surgery was my only hope of having a life without pain.
So I had emergency bowel surgery at the Cleveland Clinic hospital in Jan 2024 but what they found was a real shocker.
Besides the diverticulitis and undiagnosed painful abdominal adhesions that were everywhere (All not possible to see w CT scans) they found that my bowel was actually wrapped around my left ovary, taking away its blood supply. 😳😳 My bowel was in a serious state.
This bowel knot was what had caused the constant next level pain I had been in for the past 3 years. And I know now for a fact that If I had stayed at Dr Pixie McKenna’s practice with this ignored pain chances are I would not have survived to see another Xmas.
I found it absolutely shocking that I was treated in this way by an expensive private clinic such as hers. And She seemed annoyed by my constant symptoms, and pleas for help. She didn’t even have the time to write a proper referal letter.
***** good news is I’ve recovered from the surgery and doing really well.. no more pain. A miracle! My life saved.
But I have not recovered from the trauma of my pain not being taken seriously by Dr Pixie or the expensive consultants she did sent me to. Women in their 60’s in the UK have already suffered thru being misdiagnosed by many pompous male doctors.. (being misdiagnosed is the 3rd leading cause of death in the UK btw) and I expected better than that from her. I really did.

So I just hope that there is something good to come out of all this.. I hope the next woman sitting in front of Dr Pixie McKenna in agonising pain is treated with more respect and compassion than I was.

Dr Sera has been my go to for years. After so many experiences of doctors not properly listening to me and dedicating time to understand my issues, Dr Sera is a breath of fresh air

If they advise tests, get them done elsewhere. They use a company called "The Doctors Laboratory" and add over a £200 premium to the cost. A test that should have been priced at £329 ended up costing me £529 + the gp appointment. Never have i felt so ripped off.

It is ultimately better going to your own gp or analysing yourself and self refer to a specialist. GP's know basic things about a range of subjects, but if information/treatment methods have changed they often won't be up to date.

I should have switched to private years ago.

This is a top-notch clinic. Dr. Sera is truly outstanding! She is everything you would want in a doctor (and more!): has a welcoming, warm and professional demeanor, doesn’t rush you, listens to you and answers all your questions (and I mean ALL!). She took the time to explain medical concepts clearly and thoroughly. She also showed great sensitivity and awareness to certain cultural norms. I left her office feeling grateful to have found her. I had another visit with Dr. Muheden, who equally is very respectful, knowledgeable, patient and took the time to answer all my questions. I very much appreciate the concern he showed of my situation and the swift response I received from him. To top all this is the professional and responsive admin staff; Airida, in particular, who has showed great assistance and responsiveness. I sincerely thank you all!

Amazing GP Practice! always there to help and always get the answers I need when i go there. Would highly recommend. Both the doctors and the admin team are amazing and nothing is ever too much for them. If I could give more than 5* I would!
